Inspired by memory and sense of place, Jenny Smith’s work starts from her experience of a particular
place or moment and is translated into a process that evokes the original experience. Influenced by
Japanese calligraphy, Smith sometimes works with white paint onto white paper, at other times lines
of paint will be transferred onto a copper plate, creating a literal and metaphorical “imprint”.
