Naoko Shibuya & Jade Stout 23 November – 22 December 2006
An exhibition of new paintings by Naoko Shibuya and Jade Stout.
The images in Naoko Shibuya's paintings come from the impressions or spectrum of nature and landscape
in daily life. Influenced by the transient nature of a firework or flower in bloom, Shibuya's work
looks at the changing rhythm of time and aims to capture something of its essence.
Shibuya also draws ideas from the form of trees, plants, flowers and lately birds. The circle and
spiral in her work represent symbols of not only death but also reincarnation, which can be found in
Zen and Celtic culture.
