Rosalind Lawless & James Lumsden 24 May - 21 June 2007
Amber Roome Contemporary Art presents an exhibition of new work by James Lumsden and Rosalind Lawless.
James Lumsden makes deliberately seductive paintings, in which an interplay is formed between illusion and reality,
between the monochrome field of light and the random painterly pour, between fabrication and accident. Using monochrome
painting as a model, his work is ultimately about the impossible pursuit of perfection and is rooted in a questioning of
the desire for purity, whether aesthetic or ideological.
