Mark Doyle & Gemma Louise Stephenson
29 June – 27 July 2006

Mark Doyle’s work focuses on depicting found objects. These are usually painted life size and in as near lifelike a style as possible.

Recently he has moved away from traditional surfaces such as canvas in favour of working predominantly on primed steel panels, lead. This is an attempt to enhance surface quality (for detailed painting) and juxtapose the painted object with the painted-on object, thus hopefully emphasizing any metaphorical connotations conveyed by the painting to the viewer.
