Andrew Mackenzie – delicate ground 3 August – 7 September 2006
Amber Roome presents a solo exhibition of new works by Andrew Mackenzie. Mackenzie was born in Banff,
Northeast Scotland, and graduated with an MFA from Edinburgh College of Art in 1993.
"I create carefully constructed layered surfaces in oil paint on panel and paper, which are made by
gradually applying then removing paint repeatedly over a long period of time. Drawing becomes embedded
within the surface, and fragmentary painted landscape elements appear to float against this painted
ground.
