Nicholas Newton's interests lies in the mind. The mechanisms of the mind, its
languages and its inscrutability. The work is mostly concerned with the incidental. Its visual
sources have included: the cracks in plaster walls, images of paint injected into water filled
tanks, technical and scientific diagrams, newspaper and catalogue cuttings as well as holiday
photos. His work draws influences from the construction of symbols, etymology, philosophy
concerned with the nature of reality, the history of civilizations, and the chemistry and
physiology of the brain.
